Tsuneo Morita was Professor of Economics at Hosei University, Tokyo. He was also an economic adviser to the Embassy of Japan, Hungary during the system transformation. After returning to the university, he moved to the Nomura Research Institute as a research adviser and was stationed in Budapest for ten years. He is the leading theorist in the field of system transformation in Japan and is also known as the scholar of economic theory and practice who introduced János Kornai’s understanding of economics to the Japanese world.
